With being raised with a mentally handicapped brother, country music singer & entertainer, Mark Collier, has always had compassion for the underprivileged. He grew up in a poor family that faced many of the same daily hardships as the children found on this website. After becoming an entertainer he began using his talent and musical success to help raise funds to help the needy. In the 1970s, he gave funds to help feed and support three small children in Columbia. He helped feed a numerous amount of children and hungry families in the United States. He performed on many televised benefit shows and in nightclubs to raise funds to help cancer victims, the Heart Fund, and the crippled and mentally retarded. He also performed for the Kentucky Sheriff's Boys & Girls Ranch to help the children. He sponsored local girls' softball teams, young mens' stock car racing, and gave money and food to the hungry on Christmas. In 1981, Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown, Jr awarded him with a Kentucky Colonel commission. The same year, Paducah, Kentucky Mayor John K. Penrod presented him with a Duke Of Paducah award. Throughout his many years as a performer, he has trained and helped many young musicians and singers realize their dream of becoming paid performers. He was the first U.S. record label owner to sponsor the Tamworth, Australia ACMLA Music Awards, and the only one to date to sponsor the Philippines Teen Talent Awards. In May 2004, he formed the Bucketful Of Rice food program that has since help feed hundreds - if not thousands - of starving children and needy families in the Philippines. You will find additional information on Mark Collier's Bucketful Of Rice food program by viewing all pages on this website. Because of Mark Collier, and all his supporters who have freely given their time and support to his food program, many children continue to be fed. ~~ Mayflor
