MAJOR FIRE IN MANGAGOY

On Oct. 3rd, Mangagoy was struck by a major fire that wiped out the entire market place and other parts of the city, leaving five children and one woman dead, 11,926 homeless, 2,000 jobless, and fire damage in the millions of dollars.

Residents of Bongaitan (Mangagoy) fleeing the fire with whatever they were able to carry. All buildings shown in this picture were completely destroyed.

With the help of Mark Collier and MMG Records who have asked for and received donations from around the world, Mayflor was able to give food to many of the victims of the fire. With the help of many volunteer college students clothes were collected from Mangagoy, Butuan City, and Surigao City to give to the people. Most all who were affected by the fire left their homes with nothing more than what they were wearing at the time. These people will need help for quite sometime to come.
