September 10, 2007:  Marlita Lariosa (better known as "Bebeth") will be managing all house and coconut farm activities in Mangagoy, Philippines after Mayflor's journey to the United States in October. There is no better person to trust with this position. Bebeth's first duties regarding the farm will involve full supervision of the coconut harvest in October. She will have full authority to conduct any and all business pertaining to the home and farm in the absence of Mark Collier and Mayflor Hontanosas.

September 4, 2007:  Mayflor passes her interview with the U.S. Embassy in Manila, and is granted a visa for travel to the United States. She should be in Alabama by the first week of October. She will continue to manage the BOR food program from Alabama through means of internet and phone, with an associate in Mangagoy replacing her with all hands-on food feedings. No changes will be made in our efforts to feed the hungry in the Mangagoy/Bislig City area. Our efforts will continue to grow.

July 22, 2007:  Another fire in Mangagoy destroys four homes in the Castillo Village district. Like the major fire in October 2006 that destroyed Bongaitan and the entire market area, this one was also caused by sparks from an outside fire used for cooking.

July 16, 2007:  Below is a picture of another starving child. Due to infection, no medical care, and the lack of food he has already lost the sight in one eye, and sight in the other eye will soon be gone without food and care. He has a small sister who recently died with the same condition. Please view our Music Albums page to see how you can help feed and save such children. We are sure you will enjoy the music, and we know children like the one below will deeply appreciate the food you helped to buy. These kids are human, not animal. It's sad that some animals receive more food and care than children do.

During the week of June 25th, papers will be filed by the company for her clearance through the office of the Philippines Securities & Exchange Commission in Manila. Once her Mangagoy office and recruitment activities are established, this should bring many jobless workers in the Bislig City and Mangagoy area closer to being able to work and support their familes. April 9, 2007:  We have recently been contacted by Mr. Jonathan Sanchez , President of John McGregor Marine Weld, Inc., in Manila and Bislig City who is offering to give free welding training to local Mangagoy young people who have no education or trade. In addition to teaching them the trade of marine welding, he will also be offering help with needed paperwork necessary for them to acquire regional and overseas employment. We are very pleased and honored that Mr. Sanchez and his company are donating their time and free training to help the needy of Mangagoy. With his help, many of the young people will learn a trade and be able to support themselves and their families. Mayflor Hontanosas will be involved with the recruitment of trainees.

March 18, 2007:   Mark Collier has purchased a 25 acre mountaintop coconut farm near San Antonio, Philippines that's being managed by Mayflor Hontanosas. The property has 300 coconut trees, a number of banana trees, and will eventually be used for planting and raising of vegetables and other foods for sales to local markets, and to help feed the hungry of Mangagoy.

February 28, 2007:   Like with most all other years in the recent past, 2006 was another bad year for the citizens of Mangagoy, Philippines. In October, a major fire broke out that destroyed the entire market area as well as other businesses and homes. Thousands of people were left homeless, and those who were lucky enough to have jobs lost them. Temporary shelters were eventually set up that were made from wood framing and tarpaulins where two families continue today to live in one room. The fifty room shelter holds 100 families.

In November, the monsoon rains began that have continued daily leaving muddy and flooded areas that have made life for the people even more miserable. In December, a breakout of German measles, malaria, dengue fever and other sickness developed. Many people have suffered without medical care. Some have died. Many remain hungry, and with no hope for a brighter day. These conditions have continued to this date, and the people continue to suffer.

A new local government election will take place in May 2007, with ones running for office making promises of jobs and other assistance to the thousands of people in dire need. However, such promises have been made by campaigners in the past without any noticeable changes ever developing. What next for Mangagoy?
