SPECIAL NOTE
Since May 2004, the Bucketful Of Rice food program has fed hundreds of hungry children in Mangagoy, Dampingan, and Bongaitan, Philippines. It has recently distributed vitamins to malnourished children in the village of San Antonio. Most food feedings have been made possible through donations given by ones who care about starving children. The remainder has been funded by Mark Collier, founder of BOR. All food feedings and other activities have been personally conducted by Mayflor Hontanosas. Since 2004, many efforts have been made in trying to contact U.S President George Bush, Philippines President Gloria Arroyo, Bislig City Mayor Alberto Tan, Philippines National Bank, Mangagoy Rotaracts, and numerous others who have been asked for assistance in helping feed starving children and families in the Mangagoy area. We have informed local government officials and business owners of investors who might possibly be interested in bringing industry to the region to offer jobs for their people who are homeless, jobless, and hungry. To date, we have only heard from President Bush's office who refused help. We have had no reply from any of the others. All requests for help have been unanswered.
Considering the lack of caring the local and national governments have for these souls, there is no hope for their survival. Many have already died, and no one cares. Many remain hungry, and will continue to be without help from their government. We have worked hard to make contact with officials there with offers of helping them to create jobs and homes for these people. We have found it to be useless as they do not care about their people. We have recently asked so-called government social workers to assist us in helping feed the children of San Antonio. For their help of simply handing the food to the children, they demanded being given a part of it, which was set aside especially for the children. The management of Bucketful Of Rice will not bow to their bribery.
There are many children and adults in various regions of the world who are dying from starvation. The plight of some is recognized, and others are not. One of the worst regions in the world, other than Darfur, is the island of Mindanao, Philippines. These people are ignored, and no one cares. Our food program helps the ones we are able to help. But the greater majority remain hungry with no hope for tomorrow. These people need your help.
